The designs of Michael Storer are
efficient, inexpensive, quick and easy
to build. These "INSTANT" boats use
ply very efficiently, using carefully laid
out plans to get the most panels
from a sheet of ply with little wastage.
Michael's boat are simple to build,
using the epoxy method of joinery, so
even an inexperienced amatuer can
come up with a good result. |

Venezia Canal/Riverboat
A compact trailerable
motorboat with
accomodation similar to
the TC 35 Riverboat.
Not only does this boat
have more room at very
little extra cost but it will
have better rough water
handling. Not that these
boats are meant to be
taken offshore - their
natural environments are
rivers and calmer days on
lakes.
Construction is in ply by
a prefabrication method
where the sides and
bottom of the boat are
built first along with the
bulkheads.
The bottom is fully
fabricated right through
to being finished on the
outside with the skeg and
bottom runners fitted,
fibreglassing and right
through to painting.

TC35 Riverboat
The riverboats
have the
admirable
qualities of being
the easiest boats
to build, having
excellent
performance with
small powerplants
and being very
easy on the wallet.
These boats are
easily trailerable,
cruise at 10 knots
using a near silent
4-stroke outboard,
making the long
stretches of
Australian rivers
easy going.
The internal layout
can be designed
to suit you or you
can go with the
stock plans for this
liveaboard cruiser.
The shallow draft
Storer Riverboat
makes many
places more
accessible than
your average
riverboat.

Beth
A boat that is fun to
sail, has a classic
appearence and is
easy to handle on
shore.
You can build one
in about 3 weeks!
And she'll go!
Micheal raced
Beth in the Sydney
Gaffers Race, on a
30min handicap in
a 1hr and 15min
race, passing all
but two
contenders to
come in third!
She's well
behaved and less
strenuous to
handle than a
Laser.

Wooden Raceboard
Recent years have
seen the price of
racing sailboards
skyrocket to
$4,000 plus,
excluding many
sailors. Now you
can afford to join
the race with a
board thats
inexpensive to
build and be just
as competitive.
Like all of
Michael's designs,
they are easily
built. The
construction is
similar to that of a
model aircraft.
The
comprehensive
plan also incudes
fitting a mast track
and a finbox to
take a standard
Turtle fin.

Goat Island Skiff
This is Michael's
most popular
design with the
appearance of a
real Australian
Skiff.
She's the best
example of the
Storer "Instant"
style construction.
You cut out a few
pieces of ply, from
the easy to follow
plans, glue them
together with the
epoxy "liquid
joinery" technology
and bingo! You've
built a boat to be
proud of.
There are two
types of rig, a
balanced lug or
you use a new or
secondhand
Laser rig, which
can keep the cost
down.
You can row it, sail
it or power it.
This boat will
become a classic.

Eureka 155 Canoe
The 155 is, of
course, the bigger
sister of the 130.
Both these canoes
are simple to build
and come with a
step by step
instruction book,
illustrated by our
own David Wilson,
along with the
easy to follow
plan. Each kit
contains the tools
necessary for the
construction.
They are 50%
lighter than a
fibreglass canoe,
paddle beautifully
and have an
excellent
appearance.

Russki - A Modern Surfski
Surfskis come in two basic flavours. Long and thin for speed on smooth open water and short ones for manouvering on waves.
For every surfski you sea in the surf you see ten on flat water. Russki Is a bit of hybrid, he'll take to a moderate wave with good manouverability or he'll stretch it out easily over smooth water just as well.
And besides, it's light and about the third of the cost of a production ski.

Oz Racer (formerly Oz PD Racer)
"Cheap, creative, and
having fun on the water".
That's the Oz Racer, a
one design racing
sailboat that is basically a
plywood box with a
curved bottom, and is the
easiest boat in the world
to build.
The Mk2 Oz Racer is
designed to get kids, and
adults, away from the TV
and computer and back
onto the water in boats
that don't cost an arm or
a leg. They are simple to
build, easy to sail. It's
that simple.
Michael has refined and
improved the original
design to make it easier
to build and better to sail.
The home handy person
could knock one up in no
time. Even if you're not
that handy, you could still
manage it.

PD Goose
Stretching the boat to
12ft allows two people to
sit side by side as in the
illustration. So it would
be simple to share the
sailing responsibility.
One with the rudder and
one with the mainsheet.
Much better for sharing
and learning.
The nice point about the
PDGoose is that it uses
ALL the bits the same as
the Oz Racer – so rudder,
tiller, centreboard, mast,
the same two sail
options. So if you have an
OZ ... you can build a OZ
PDGoose hull and go
sailing with friends.
The 12 footer will be able
to carry quite a lot of
weight and might make a
good boat for events like
the TEXAS200 event,
though a lot of
preparation and
knowledge about the
boat is necessary for
tough events of this type.
We recommend the lug
sail with an extra reef
point.
The PD Goose is the
ultimate in cheap, light
and easy. It is a boat that
a sailor can dominate
because it is so small,
simple and light. Not to
mention easy to store
and transport.
