Business:
7.1 Postal Vote.
Glen tabled the 8 responses that he had received
from the postal ballot of the current club membership. As a result of
the ballot and members' suggestions and comments, the meeting resolved
that:
· Glen Linke be assigned the responsibility of formalising the establishment
of the club.
· Glen's initial term as Club Organiser be set at 12 months.
· The club's bank account be operated by 2 signatories. (Initially Glen
Linke and Ted Dexter).
· Matters relating to sail design be determined by the relevant yacht
racing organisation (Ted to facilitate).
7.2 Finances:
Glen tabled a financial report and meeting resolved
that:
· The report showing a balance of $180 be accepted.
· Membership fees remain at the current $10 per person per annum.
7.3 Racing/Promotions:
The meeting discussed the following issues:
· Racing - members in all States be encouraged to identify sailing clubs
with a lot of small skiff-type boats which may welcome our 3M multihulls.
Local SA clubs suggested included Normanville, Clayton and Goolwa.
· Come & Try Days - Glen reported that quotes for insurance to cover
members of the public participating in a come & try with the club in
SA were around $70 per boat per day. The meeting considered such a cost
to be prohibitive and resolved not to plan a come & try day in SA.
· Promotion of the club through group participation in an established
race for small boats, such as SA's annual Rat Island Race conducted
by the Clayton Bay Boat Club, see www.alexandrina.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=681
to be investigated. Ted Dexter to confirm date of the 2006 race (believed
to be 8/9 April). All club members to be invited to attend and participate.
· Ted Dexter generously offered space on his company's Duck Flat website
for promotion of the club and its activities. The meeting unanimously
resolved to accept the offer with thanks.
